Hi, I'M SAMUEL KNOWLES
I write books for people who are tired of being told who they're supposed to become.
My work explores the uncomfortable space between self-improvement and self-acceptance. I question the assumptions behind modern productivity culture, personal growth, and the endless pressure to become a “better” version of yourself. I don't want my books to give you another list of rules to follow. I want them to make you question the rules you're already following.
What if you're already enough?
What if the life you're trying so hard to improve isn't actually the problem?
And what happens when you stop treating yourself like a project?
My writing combines provocative ideas, humor, cultural criticism, and practical reflection to challenge the conventional wisdom surrounding personal development. My current work includes the life of simplicity series and my upcoming book, The Self-Improvement Trap, which takes a deeper look at the self-help industry and how the pursuit of constant improvement can become its own form of pressure.
I believe personal growth should be an option, not an obligation. You don't have to optimize every hour. You don't have to turn every weakness into a project. You don't have to spend your entire life chasing a version of yourself that always seems to be one step ahead. Sometimes growth means changing. Sometimes it means letting go. And sometimes it means realizing there was never anything fundamentally wrong with you in the first place. That's the kind of conversation I want my books to create. Not “How can I become perfect?” But: “What if I stopped believing I needed to be?”
This website is where I share the things that don't always fit inside the books, deleted chapters, bonus content, upcoming projects, and ideas I'm still figuring out. You can also join my Review ARC Community to receive free advance copies of my upcoming books in exchange for honest, independent reviews.
If any of these ideas resonate with you, stick around.
There are more questions to ask.
